Our Vision

We are driven by our faith in a God who created all equally, who loves all and who wants all to come to faith in a personal Saviour. The children will thoroughly enjoy our Bible story times with games and quizzes. Over the last 22 years in Ukraine, 1,000’s of children have passed through our Childrens Bible study lessons and it has enabled them to understand life’s perplexing questions, Why am I here? What is the purpose of life? and is there life after death?

Many children experience traumas in life that effect their ability to think logically, manage their feelings, adapt socially, control their emotions and behave normally. We at Open Door Lutsk will provide the best of healthcare using local medical professionals, private health clinics and psychologists. Talk therapy and behaviour therapy will enable the children learn new behaviours and obtain skills in coping with new experiences.

All children will be encouraged to manage their schooling either online or at regular day school. All children will be provided with their own laptop for the duration of their stay. It will be compulsory for children to attend 2 extra English lessons per week plus mathematic lessons, computer studies and music lessons. For children who are resident with us we appreciate that not every child will be capable of obtaining a freely financed university education. Some children will excel practically and therefore will be provided with a freely financed college education where the focus will be on the service industry – Consumer services (hairstylist, body care, dress making, car mechanics etc), Business services (labourer, technician), and Public services (law enforcement, fire/rescue, government agencies etc).

We at Open Door Lutsk promote a healthy lifestyle. This includes helping children to get adequate sleep, eat a well-balanced home-made diet and stay active physically. Children will be encouraged to stay outdoors as much as possible (weather permitting) and to join sports clubs, swimming clubs, dancing lessons etc.

One of the best ways to help the children develop emotional intelligence is for all the staff at Open Door Lutsk to model positive behaviour. We will endeavour to show all the children that it is possible to express their feelings, listen to others, and work through any conflicts they encounter.

Social learning forms the foundation from which the children build other life skills like decision making, self-discipline, and self-control needed to grow and thrive. The children will be encouraged to communicate with others, learn to share, work in a team, co-operate with others, develop empathy, resolve conflicts, make new friends, and develop healthy new relationships.
